- Much of India’s society is controlled by the caste system, a social hierarchy that creates restrictions for most of the people of India.
- While nuclear families are becoming more common within urban areas of India, multi-generational patriarchal joint families are typical.
- The groundwork of Hindu philosophy, mythology, theology, and literature was laid during the Vedic period (c. 1700 – 500 BCE), and many of those beliefs and practices still exist today.
Program Overview
The Goal
Our Indian church partners are located near the major city of Hyderabad. They have a passion for caring for the most vulnerable in their communities, with ministries that seek to reunify orphaned children with their biological families and facilitate church-based foster care, as well as provide educational opportunities for students, and empower caregivers to thrive.
Funding
Funding comes from a combination of church partnerships and fundraising campaigns. This funding ensures that these children receive the following:
Food
Meals served with the families and at school on a daily basis
Medical Care
Access to medical services and monitoring for specific health needs
Education
Assistance with school fees, school supplies, tutoring, and vocational training
Emotional Care
Counseling and mentoring through family relationships with church members
Spiritual Care
Fellowship, prayer, discipleship, and encouragment
