I asked myself the question, what does it mean to be an instrument of God? I began to think of musical instruments. When a piano is played, it alone is not capable of playing beautiful music. It has a weakness… The beauty of the music you hear is dependent upon the person who is playing. After an amazing pianist plays a song, you never see the piano get up and take a bow or brag about what a wonderful performance it gave… For even though the beautiful music came through the piano, it was still simply an instrument capable of nothing without the pianist.
So I ask these questions of myself and of you… If you were a piano, would God be the pianist? Would He always get the glory from the music that flows through your life and what kind of music would we hear? Would we hear a song of true religion that inspires others to love the fatherless? Would we hear a song of the redeemed, of grace, of mercy? And when each song ends, would it point back to the pianist, and ultimately lead others to meet Him? How can you today, become like a musical instrument… Allowing God to play beautiful music with your life and giving Him the glory?
2 Corinthians 13:5-10:
“… I will boast only about my weaknesses. If I wanted to boast, i would be no fool in doing so, because I would be telling the truth. But I won’t do it, because I don’t want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message, even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
