how your crypto donation makes an impact for orphans and vulnerable families

Every year, over 10,000 orphans, widows, refugees, and vulnerable families are impacted by the ministry of World Orphans. At World Orphans, we believe in ministry through relationships. Each country, church, family, and child that we walk with is unique. This requires thoughtfulness and adaptability for each circumstance. Here we will share with you some of the quantifiable highlights, but more importantly, we will share with you stories of real impact that come from this relational approach to ministry.

World Orphans is regularly walking with over 30 churches who are caring for more than 500 families, with over 1,500 children in the programs who receive ongoing care that includes medical care, education, daily meals, counseling, and more. While making an impact on their present situation, we are there for the long haul to give them hope for a bright future. We understand that the entire family unit needs support which is why over 500 mom’s and dad’s are empowered each year in various ways through savings groups, skills training, microloan phases, business and personal finance training, and ongoing support. We celebrate these stories of hope and invite you to read testimonials below.

a beautiful gift

After their mother was sent to prison, Sarai* and her twin sister, Andrea*, went through difficult living situations with a grandmother who practiced witchcraft and other relatives who forced them into child labor. One day they ran to a home in a nearby community and asked for help. After the authorities confirmed that the girls were being abused, they called a neighbor, Elizabeth Valdez, and requested that she take Sarai and Andrea into her home. Today we celebrate that simple “yes,” as Elizabeth’s care has been a beautiful gift to two girls whose lives have known extensive abuse.

From helpless to helper

“I threw myself in front of a moving car, hoping to end it all. When my husband fell ill, I had no answers. I didn’t know what to do to provide for myself and my family. I was hopeless.”

When her suicide attempt failed, other members of the World Orphans savings group were able to relate to her situation; therefore, they invited her to attend their savings group, hoping that she would find encouragement, empowerment, and support like they had.

“When I entered the program, my children didn’t have shoes on their feet . . .”

Zeritu became the first member of the Ethiopian Home Based Care program to use our savings group and microloan program to become self-sufficient, and has successfully graduated the program. She began teaching others in the program her secrets to success and willingly gave up her spot in the program to her provide space for another family.

From hopeless to successful. From hungry to overflowing. From a sad story to a role model. From helpless to the helper. This is empowerment.

We Feel Alive

With a broad smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, this sweet mother in Haiti named Marie said, “We feel alive and comfortable in our own skin.” After everything she had been through—the death of her husband, the loss of her job, the struggles to provide for her son—she felt able to breathe again.

She was not walking in shame.

We’re overjoyed to see families like these being supported by their local church—families that don’t carry shame. Instead, they carry the feather-light weight of hope.
