In less than a month, my wife and I, and our 9-month-old baby, are heading to Cambodia for a long-term assignment with World Orphans. While we are sad to leave our amazing church, our awesome friends, and loving family, we can’t wait to get there! But it will be hard.
The raw need and desperation in Cambodia is overwhelming. Issues like poverty, child-prostitution, orphans, corruption, and the devaluation of women have become part of the very social fabric in Cambodia. Even today, in the midst of some great economic growth and political reform, the hard truth about real life for so many in the country looms like basement mold or overcast skies. Talk about a situation where the needs are glaring!
In response, World Orphans seeks to engage this fallen world by serving the community as a whole, rather than issues in isolation.
Ultimately, as Christians, we understand that underneath this web of intertwined problems lies a deep spiritual brokenness. By His grace, God established his church as His agent of restoration. The church can provide mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual care to address both the symptoms and the cause of mankind’s common problem, particularly in rescuing and caring for orphaned and vulnerable children. Gospel centered community transformation through the local church!
If any of this sounds cool to you, then please keep reading!
We’re recruiting long-term team members for our exciting ministry in Cambodia!
We are looking for people with a heart and calling to long-term Christian ministry, focused toward orphan care and rescue through the church. Because the work will be gospel centered and holistic, we need people with backgrounds in church ministry, small business, teaching, social work, youth ministry, counseling, video/media, communications, or project management…or just people who are willing to serve, learn and be flexible.
Candidates would join a small team of American and Cambodian workers looking to effectively use their gifts and experiences in a team and community-serving setting.
The position(s) would be deputized (support raised) and full-time. Pay will be commensurate with experience.
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a resume with cover letter to Jesse Blaine at jesse@worldorphans.org.
