In 2006, the board of directors at World Orphans named Paul Myhill as its President/CEO. A few months later, Paul brought Scott Vair on board as Vice President of Projects to lead the way in project development. Together, with the aid of a gifted and dedicated staff, the hard work of committed partners, and the generosity of many, much has been accomplished. In 2011 alone, the lives of 8,937 orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children were impacted by this ministry, through 50 active projects in 17 countries.
World Orphans is known today as an orphan care ministry committed to the local church, partnering US churches with churches around the world, and seeing orphans and vulnerable children cared for holistically in families.
As an entrepreneur, Paul started and has been leading Traffic Jam—a ministry focused on stopping child trafficking and slavery by working with musicians, entertainers, and celebrities to help create awareness and involvement. This has gradually, but clearly, become a passionate area of priority and focus for Paul.
God has blessed and grown both organizations, and it has become clear that it is time to broaden our impact on the Kingdom, on children around the world who are abandoned, orphaned, vulnerable, at-risk, and being preyed upon. With that, Paul will be leaving World Orphans to focus his energies on Traffic Jam.
Under Paul’s leadership, Traffic Jam will continue independently on its path to make known the issues surrounding child trafficking and slavery through the secular music audience, primarily focused in the rock genre.
World Orphans’ focus on responding to the international orphan crisis through rescuing and caring for orphaned and abandoned children through the church will continue. Our work in partnering US and international churches to serve together though monthly support and team visits will carry on.
So it is with much enthusiasm that we, the Board of Directors of World Orphans, pass the mantle of leadership to Scott Vair as he takes on the role of President/CEO. Having led our project development these pasts five years, we have every confidence in Scott’s knowledge, experience, gifting, and ability to lead the World Orphans team into the future.
We will miss Paul’s daily involvement at World Orphans. He remains a trusted friend and ministry partner, and we look forward together to what the Lord has in store for both World Orphans and Traffic Jam.
